Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and a happy new owner of a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500Hd 6.6 Duramax with the lb7. She's got 62k on her, is the LT model and has some aftermarket mods done. 6in Cognito lift, riding on 35in Toyo open country mts, 4in Magnaflow exhaust from the down-pipe back, its tuned a little with a PPE Xcelerator programmer set on level 2 which according to the manual pushes the HP to 378 and torque to 660. Has bilstein shocks in the front and rear (the upper bushings on both front shocks have worn out, so I need to replace them...anyone have experience with this?) Got it from the original owner who took immaculate care of it. He replaced the front drive line as that was required with the lift kit, and rebuilt/lowered the front diff so that everything is level up front. Some of the other stuff is: viper smart start, wider mudflaps, chrome tubed running boards, road armor steel front bumper, 12k super winch with synthetic rope (never used), 4 driving lights built into winch, couple of gauges to read boost pressure and one for exhaust temp (I think), full set of 35in studs on 18in fuel rims, and some other things as well.
Anyway, its a dream truck for me. So far I've thrown my topper on it from my old Chevy, took it down to Cooper Landing once, and then have been driving it around town. But as I said, I'm new to diesels (first one I've ever owned) so any advice on things to watch for/know about the lb7s, the fact that it has a lift and what that means for maintenance, regular upkeep and maintenance, good shops in town to have it worked on, suggestions regarding the tuner/relationship to the transmission (which is an Allison). Any advice is appreciated.
The only thing I've had an issue with is that because my driveway is so steep I have to park her nose down, due to the fact that it doesn't have a fuel lift pump. I had a heck of a time getting it started after not driving it for 24 hours when I had it parked nose up, but was able to get it going after doing research and priming the fuel filter...I absolutely don't want that to happen again. So any suggestions on a good fuel lift pump, and how to install it (or a shop who could do it for a reasonable price) would be really helpful.
Definitely excited to be part of the diesel community and love getting 18mpg even in town now!
Thanks guys
